The brief for the Krishnakala Institute of Medical Science carries a strong sense of responsibility. The client, a Dubai-based businessman with deep roots in Haripad, aspires to give back to his hometown in the form of a hospital. The vision is to create a facility that offers international standards of care while remaining accessible to the local community. This balance is the core design driver.
The IPD, OPD, and diagnostic departments are planned to meet global benchmarks, ensuring efficient patient flow, clear wayfinding, and integration of advanced medical infrastructure. At the same time, the architectural expression remains rooted in the local context. The facade uses earthy materials like exposed brick and warm wood panelling, reflecting Kerala’s materiality and softening the institutional feel. Inside, natural tones and tactile surfaces create a calm, healing environment.
The project ultimately bridges global standards with local identity in an advanced healthcare environment, providing a sense of familiarity and comfort.
